A new professional learning course from Virtual Virginia and CodeVA  guides educators in answering the question “What is computer science?”

The self-paced course is offered at no cost to Virginia public school educators and provides 5 hours of professional learning.

In the course—titled “What Is Computer Science? For Educators”  —participants will learn the fundamentals of the computer science field, as well as important concepts covered in the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs) for computer science.  Educators will also learn how to teach computational thinking skills in their classrooms and how the computer science SOLs can be integrated into core academic content.

The course is the first in a series of upcoming professional learning opportunities that VVA and CodeVA have partnered to develop.
