Coaches, ITRTs, Admins: Build Your Own Instructional Playbook
Virtual Virginia, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) invite administrators, instructional coaches, and ITRTs at Virginia public schools and divisions to attend a new professional learning series that will guide them in creating an “instructional playbook” to enhance the training they offer teachers locally.
“Build Your Own Instructional Playbook” is a series of five webinars offered at no cost to Virginia public school educators. Attendees will learn how to best create an “instructional playbook,” a comprehensive guide that outlines evidence-based teaching strategies that instructional coaches and ITRTs can use to train local teachers. An instructional playbook can form the basis of a school’s or division’s professional development program. The playbook is collaboratively developed and evaluated by a school or division administrative team, is shared digitally with all local teachers, and is updated regularly.Attendees who successfully complete the webinar series will earn a certificate worth five hours of professional learning. To complete the series, attendees must attend all five webinars (and/or watch all recordings) and submit at least one instructional technique to the #GoOpenVA “Creating an Instructional Playbook” hub.
The five webinars will be held Thursdays at 1 p.m. according to the schedule below:
- July 6—What Is an Instructional Playbook?
- July 13—Laying the Foundation
- July 20—Sharing Your Blueprints
- July 27—Building on Your Foundation: Thinking Routines and Cognitive Science
- August 3—Participant Showcase
