In this laboratory-based course, students will gain an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. The course will cover the eleven systems of the human body with emphasis on the mechanisms that maintain homeostasis. Laboratory and clinical case studies will be used to illustrate anatomical and physiological concepts. Careers in the medical sciences are explored. Students will study basic anatomical terminology and the biochemical composition of the human body, with detail of each of the major systems of the body. One of the goals of this course is to provide students with the skills necessary to be successful in future science classes in college and medical fields.
