Sizzlin’ Summer Series
Free Webinars: VVA Statewide LMS & In-Person Learning
Virtual Virginia invites educators throughout the state to the Sizzlin’ Summer Series of webinars, where they can learn best practices in utilizing the VVA Statewide learning management system (LMS) and other educational technology for in-person learning.
Presented in partnership with Instructure, the Sizzlin’ Summer Series features free, 60–minute webinars designed specifically for K–12 instructors, leaders, and support personnel at Virginia public schools and divisions. Participants will learn how to incorporate blended learning methods into their professional practice and leverage the VVA Statewide LMS (Canvas LMS) in face-to-face instruction.
Each session will focus on practical applications and provide tips, tools, and techniques that educators can begin using immediately.
Registration is required for each webinar. A Virginia public school/division email address is required to register.

Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m.
Instructors will learn how to effectively use the Canvas LMS platform as a one-stop resource for digital tools that enhance in-person instructional techniques.
Differentiation & Customization
Wednesday, July 13, at 2 p.m.
This session provides instructors with the tools and strategies to adapt their content to meet a variety of student strengths, needs, and learning styles while in person.
Student Collaboration & Interaction
Wednesday, July 20, at 2 p.m.
This session prepares instructors to transform their in-person classroom into robust spaces of dialogue and engagement by leveraging digital tools.
Student Reflection & Self-Assessment
Wednesday, July 27, at 2 p.m.
Instructors will learn how to interweave reflection practices within their in-person instruction to amplify a growth mindset culture for all students.
Time Management & Using Data for Instructional Decisions
Wednesday, August 3, at 2 p.m.
This session engages instructors with strategies that will help students grow as dynamic learners in a 21st-century classroom, including time management, to-do lists, and organization. Additionally, instructors will learn how to use data to monitor student growth and inform instructional next steps for in-person delivery.
