Virtual Virginia welcomes Virginia parents and families to enroll their children as homeschooled students in any of our instructional programs. Students may either enroll through their local public school or be enrolled by their parent/family.

How can I enroll my child in home instruction with VVA?

Home Instruction: Academic Year, K–12

Thank you for your interest in VVA academic year enrollment for learners in grades K–12!

Your student may either enroll through their local public school or be enrolled by the parent/guardian as a homeschooled student. Virtual Virginia is the digital learning partner of all Virginia public schools, and we encourage you to first contact your school division of residency to talk about the VVA enrollment options available.

If you are unable to enroll in VVA academic year courses through your local school, you may enroll your learner as a VVA homeschooled student. Verify that you meet the VDOE requirements for Home Instruction and are approved by your local public school division of residence.

Instructions on how to register your student as a VVA homeschool student are provided below.

VVA Academic Year Homeschool Account Creation

Please use this link to create a homeschool account. Please complete all fields, and click Submit when done. 

Once those steps have been completed, you’re done! You may then follow these instructions to enroll your student in VVA academic year courses.

Remember, throughout academic year homeschooling, the parent/guardian serves as the:

  • Counselor
  • Mentor
  • Principal

Each of the accounts listed above (Counselor, Mentor, and Principal) will receive separate login credentials to the VVA student information system. Please enter your name in each of the account fields (Counselor, Mentor, and Principal). 

Once the homeschool account has been created, the Counselor of Record will establish the school.

The Counselor of Record will receive an automated email with their VVA login credentials. Be sure you use the Counselor login and enroll your student.

Thank you for your interest in VVA Summer Session for learners in grades 6-12!

Your student may either enroll through their local public school or be enrolled by the parent/guardian as a Summer Session homeschooled student. Virtual Virginia is the digital learning partner of all Virginia public schools, and we encourage you to first contact your school division of residency to talk about the VVA enrollment options available.

If you are unable to enroll in VVA Summer Session through your local school, you may enroll your learner as a Summer Session homeschooled student. These enrollments will only be active for Summer Session, and students can return to in-person learning at your local school for the regular academic school year. Verify that you meet the VDOE requirements for Home Instruction and are approved by your local public school division of residence.
