Fine ArtsHigh School (9–12)

This course helps students extend and refine their ability to investigate and respond to the visual arts. Students examine the importance of process, content, concepts, and skills involved in the development of original works of art and design. Students continue to maintain process portfolios and select work for exhibition.

This course aligns with the Virginia Standards of Learning for Visual Arts.

Required

  • Sketchbook (8″ x 11″ or larger; must contain blank pages/paper)
  • Drawing pencils/graphite pencils
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Eraser
  • Color Media (color pencils, markers, crayons, acrylic paints, watercolor paints)
  • Paint brushes
  • Scissors, craft knife
  • Adhesive (liquid or stick glue, rubber cement)
  • Access to camera (laptop, cellphone, tablet, etc.)
