Virtual Virginia’s K–5 Summer Enrichment Camps give learners high-quality synchronous and asynchronous enrichment instruction during the summer in a variety of subjects:
- Computer Science
- Arts & Crafts
- American Sign Language
- German
- Japanese
- Chinese
- French
- Spanish
- Dance

Through this program, Virtual Virginia provides asynchronous enrichment content and synchronous instruction via the VVA learning management system (LMS).
Enrichment instruction is offered in one-week sessions throughout the summer, with daily instruction from 9 to 10 a.m. Learners may participate in multiple camps.
About the Camps
Coding Across the Country: Computer Science Camp
Coding Across the Country: Computer Science Camp
June 5–9
Grades K–2 or 3–5
This camp introduces students to basic computer science principles, including computational thinking, coding, algorithms, loops, inputs, outputs, and sequencing. Students will use an iterative design process to create their own computer models and block-based programs.
Chip Ram will guide students through the camp!

Creating Beautiful Vistas: Arts & Crafts Camp
Creating Beautiful Vistas: Arts & Crafts Camp
June 5–9
Grades K–5
This camp offers a fun and creative week for students as they create a variety of small projects using basic materials. Supply lists will be provided ahead of time to families to ensure students can fully participate in camp activities.

Grades K–2
This camp offers enrichment instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) to develop basic vocabulary and communication skills. Students should come prepared to actively engage in using ASL during each lesson.

Trekking Through the Alps offers enrichment instruction in the German language to develop basic vocabulary and communication skills. Lessons will introduce students to the language, culture, and history of the countries where German is spoken. Students should come prepared to actively engage in using the German language during each lesson.

Hiking Mount Fuji offers enrichment instruction in the Japanese language to develop basic vocabulary and communication skills. Lessons will introduce students to the language, culture, and history of Japan. Students should come prepared to actively engage in using the Japanese language during each lesson.

Exploring the Bamboo Forest offers enrichment instruction in the Chinese language to develop basic vocabulary and communication skills. Lessons will introduce students to the language, culture, and history of the countries where Chinese is spoken. Cruising the Amazon offers enrichment instruction in the Spanish language to develop basic vocabulary and communication skills. Moving and Grooving: Dance Camp
Moving and Grooving: Dance Camp
July 10–14
Grades K–5
This camp allows students to learn about many genres of dance and musical styles from around the world. Students will engage in a variety of dance styles and exercise while having fun. Students should plan to wear comfortable clothing and have an open space for free movement.
Giselle Giraffe will guide students through the camp!

Enrollment
The enrichment program is open to all learners in grades K–5 and may be especially appealing to students who are new to online learning or will be enrolled in online instruction through VVA for the upcoming school year.
