Summer K–5 Enrichment
Virtual Virginia’s Summer K–5 Enrichment program gives learners high-quality synchronous and asynchronous enrichment instruction during the summer in the following subjects:
- Core academics + STEM
- Computer science coding
Through this program, Virtual Virginia provides the asynchronous enrichment content and synchronous instruction via the VVA learning management system (LMS). Enrichment instruction is offered in two cohorts during the summer, and learners may participate in either or both cohorts:
- Summer K–5 Enrichment Cohort 1
- Instruction: June 1–30
- Enrollment deadline: June 1
- Summer K–5 Enrichment Cohort 2
- Instruction: July 5–29
- Enrollment deadline: July 1
Virtual Virginia offers nine online enrichment courses:
Skills & STEM (Grades 3–5)
The Skills & STEM courses offer enrichment instruction in reading, writing, math, and STEM for grades 3–5.
- Skills & STEM Camp, Grades 3–5
- Skills & STEM Olympics, Grades 3–5
World Tour: Chinese, French, Spanish (Grades K–5)
The World Tour courses offer enrichment instruction in Chinese, French, or Spanish to develop vocabulary and communication skills.
- World Tour: Chinese, Grades K–2 (July cohort only)
- World Tour: Chinese, Grades 3–5 (July cohort only)
- World Tour: French, Grades K–2
- World Tour: French, Grades 3–5
- World Tour: Spanish, Grades K–2
- World Tour: Spanish, Grades 3–5
Coding Camp (Grades 3–5)
The Coding course gives students in grades 3–5 an introduction to computational thinking and coding. Students will develop an understanding of basic computer science principles, such as events, algorithms, loops, inputs, outputs, and sequencing, and will use an iterative design process to create computer models and block-based programs.
The enrichment program is open to all learners in grades K–5 and may be especially appealing to students who are new to online learning or will be enrolled in online instruction through VVA for the upcoming school year.
The K–5 Summer Session 2022 enrollment fee for all students is only $75 per student, per cohort. A student may enroll in one enrichment course per cohort. Rising grade-level students or recent grade-level completers may enroll. Learn more about summer enrollment fees, payment, and refunds.
